Kite Surfing
The Langebaan lagoon is synonymous with kite surfing. Every season, kitesurfers from all over the world descend upon the seaside town to catch some waves. However, even if you’re not a pro kitesurfer, you can still get in on the action. There are several kitesurfing schools who rent out gear to help amateurs. You can book a private, one-on-one lesson and learn the tricks of the trade, or you can simply hire a kite, wetsuit and other equipment from one of the many kitesurfing shops in the town.
SUP
Stand up paddleboarding (known universally as SUP) is another fun watersport for the whole family. Less extreme than kitesurfing, SUP can be enjoyed by anyone - whether you fancy yourself athletic or not. You can enjoy the beautiful waters of the Langebaan lagoon by standing on an oversized surfboard and paddling through the water. SUP boards and gear is also available to rent at various shops in the town.
Kayaking
Even more laid back than some of the other wonderful watersports one can do in Langebaan is kayaking. You can enjoy the lagoon at your own pace as you kayak through the waters, observing the beautiful surroundings, spotting some birds and even some dolphins and other ocean creatures if you’re lucky. Kayaks, wetsuits, life vests and other gear can be rented at various shops in town.
Boat Trips
If water sports are not your thing, you can get to know the Langebaan lagoon the traditional way: with a beautiful boat trip across the lagoon. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely boat trip over lunch, or seek adrenaline-fuelled excursions on a sail yacht or speedboat, there is something for everyone. You can also take a boat trip to the offshore islands to check out the penguins and other animals.
